History.
Originally named Bournemouth Beaches, Smart Holiday Rentals affiliate of Smart Home Rentals (SHR) was founded by two friends in 2007. At that time, it appeared that the market for rented holiday accommodation was not well served in the local area and the partnership sought to fill this niche.
The company now offers holiday lettings, residential lettings and sales services across the South Coast. In addition, they also provide in-house laundry, cleaning and a troubleshooting team service, plus 24/7 out of hours support and extended opening hours.
Local Office.
Based on Poole Hill, the Smart Home office has a high street presence that appeals to passers-by who can walk in and be welcomed by staff who have extensive knowledge of the area. Many clients are visiting from abroad or relocating to the area so the team apply an all-inclusive approach and can advise on all things such as local schools and transport links. Smart Home Rentals always have the clients best interests at heart-after all without the landlords, tenants and holiday makers, there would be no business. The building is a relaxed, bright and comfortable space to work in and strives to be a breath of fresh air in what is a strictly legislation driven industry. ‘ARLA Property Mark’ certificates decorate the walls; the staff are encouraged to study so that they are confident and knowledgeable within their area of expertise.

Since the very beginning these words have been the impetus behind the Director’s drive to build a strong, creative business with solid foundations that emphasise quality over quantity. Employees are encouraged to be open-minded and as a team the business has developed alongside their clients within the industry. Landlords are welcome to pop into the office for coffee, or discuss matters over an informal lunch.
Supporting Local. Giving Back.
Smart Home Rentals support local, creative individuals. Annual apprenticeships are offered each summer and freelance designers, artists, website creators and fitness trainers are hired rather than faceless companies.
Holiday lettings is our main area of business and as such local tourism plays a huge part. The team are aware of the importance of giving back via working with local communities and charities.
The Beehive in Southbourne is a creative/ fitness workspace on Belle Vue Road that Smart Home Rentals has continued to sponsor. Available for all to hire and enjoy, it is fast becoming a core of the community, a building usable for all ages that would otherwise have been sold as an office unit.
We also have strong links with the Dorset Wildlife Trust; there is a donation option on our holiday booking form and the staff enjoy getting their hands dirty at various organised days out. It is this love of the local surroundings that has inspired our five mascots, unique to the Dorset area. The fox, red squirrel, kingfisher, rabbit and otter represent qualities that the team implement regularly, those being: integrity, creativity, adventurousness, philanthropy and progressiveness.
